In January 2022, I traveled with 13 other University students to Antigua Guatemala on an international story-telling trip titled Textura. The goal was to learn from people in Guatemala about their culture and their day-to-day struggles/celebrations.
A day in the life of a Camionetero
Checha Taj wakes up as early as 3:00 am to drive a camioneta (known as Chicken Buses) from Antigua to Guatemala City. He makes up to three round trips a day, seven days a week, all the while risking encounters with thieves.
